This is absolutely brilliant

I am a massive fan of Frightened Rabbit and I'm absolutely buzzing over this new album. State Hospital and The Woodpile are incredible tracks. I'm giving this five stars without even hearing the rest of the album. Scott are a Scottish god.

A Masterpiece

Incredibly, Frightened Rabbit have managed to evolve and change and yet retain their strengths. This album is as dark and tumultuous as Midnight Organ Flight, catchy as Sing the Greys and as daring as parts of The Winter of Mixed Drinks. Scott Hutchinson's lyrics remain the lynchpin, holding together a variety of influences and sounds and forging them into a powerful album. I tried to pick stand out tracks to list here, but I just couldn't do it. Pedestrian verse works as one coherent piece anyway, and all the songs are varying shades of fantastic. Buy the whole album, you wont be sorry.

There are good lyrics; there are great lyrics; and there are Scott Hutchinson's lyrics. His lyrics are willfully and emotional honest; a reflection of his shyness in his childhood. Like: "soft and patient to reflect its muse; "hides a coward's heart in a lion's chest", or "swallow the sweet self-loathing". Musically, the band has never been tighter or more experimental. Grand and moody!

Frightened Rabbit was founded in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2004, when guitarist Scott Hutchison and his brother Grant, a percussionist who — like his sibling — prefers to keep his last name a secret, began recording demos of songs they had written....
