18 Songs, 1 Hour 15 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Originally released at the tail end of 2012, PRO ERA’s Peep the Aprocalypse is a compilation album intended to showcase the crew first introduced to the world via its star, Joey Badas$$, and his debut, 1999. But what should have been an overwhelmingly positive reception to a multitude of talents would be overshadowed by the death of PRO ERA member Capital STEEZ. Peep the Aprocalypse re-emerges in 2018 in all of its ’90s NYC hip-hop-inspired glory, plus a bonus track—the Joey Bada$$, Kirk Knight, and CJ Fly collaboration “Know the Rules.” The song is powered by jazzy horn stabs and a sample of The Notorious B.I.G.’s voice. Not unlike the source material that much of Peep the Aprocalypse draws inspiration from, “Know the Rules” should sound as fresh decades removed from this latest release date as the rest of the album does six years after it was first released.

Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics.

Modern Classic

This is a mixtape good enough to buy. Have heard nearly every song 100+ times and will listen to them 100 more.

Greatness

Too bad Joey doesn’t rap like that anymore.
