About Sunz of Man

Given an early commercial boost through their Wu-Tang Clan connection, rap group Sunz of Man took shape in Brooklyn, with membership including Killah Priest, 7th Ambassador, Su Preme, Prodigal Sunn, Shabazz the Disciple, Hell Razah, and 60 Second Assassin. Rooted in a group called Da Last Future, Sunz of Man debuted on Wu-Tang Records with "Soldiers of Darkness" in 1995. Produced by the 4th Disciple, the track, like the majority of Wu-Tang output, was grimly cinematic and energizing. An album was planned for a 1996 release date, but was shelved. The group released the first of several full-lengths, The Last Shall Be First, in 1998. Easily their most successful release from a commercial standpoint, it debuted at number 20 on the Billboard 200 chart. From that point forward, the group's irregular release schedule entailed the proper 2002 album Saviorz Day among anthologies, re-releases, and "Sunz of Man Presents"-billed solo and splinter projects. ~ Andy Kellman
