Album Review

Columbia/Legacy's Personal Christmas Collection is an excellent overview of Doris Day's holiday recordings, containing 15 highlights from her many Christmas albums, including "The Christmas Song," "Silver Bells," "Here Comes Santa Claus," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "White Christmas," and "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!." The compilation may span several decades, but Day's style remained essentially the same throughout the years, which makes this lovely collection a consistent and thoroughly entertaining listen.

A Christmas "Must-Have"!

Doris Day's singing is warm, and welcoming at any time of the year but especially at Christmas. This album could be called a 'Christmas Greatest Hits" as it is a compiliation of Day's Christmas songs. The 'big-band' and lovely almost jazz-like vocals make you close your eyes and imagine sitting next to a radio and big roaring fire. You can't help but smile while listening. Doris Day's "Personal Christmas Collection" is a must have for every Christmas album collection regardless if you are a fan or not.

Fun, cheerful and lovely!

Fun and very Christmasy!

It's Christmas morning and this album is playing as I submit this review. What a great collection of songs sung beautifully by the talented Doris Day. Her voice has a way of soothing and calming you while you listen. Soft and jazz like, this is the perfect album to play, not only around the holidays but year round. Thank you Doris!

Doris Day has packed four careers into one lifetime, two each in music and movies. The pity is that all most people remember are her movies, from Teacher's Pet (1957) onward, as the quintessential all-American girl, the perpetually virginal screen heroine, cast opposite such icons of masculinity as Clark Gable and Rock Hudson. She also transposed this following to television at the end of the '60s with a situation comedy that lasted into the early '70s. If most people remember her as a singer, it's...
