Dr. Charlie

Not to add flames to the fires or anything, but this song is actually more about people being saviors for one another, now maybe for Manson the meaning has changed but since it was an original song by the Depeche Mode, the original meaning still holds some measure of merit. The song itself was inspired by the book "Elvis and Me" by Priscilla Presley. According to songwriter Martin Gore, "It's a song about being a Jesus for somebody else, someone to give you hope and care. It's about how Elvis was her man and her mentor and how often that happens in love relationships; how everybody's heart is like a god in some way, and that's not a very balanced view of someone, is it?" Now, all that aside, this is a good song, not the greatest version of it, but still pretty solid all around.

now here's a thought...who f*@king cares who thinks what about where its true meaning lies. Its a GREAT f*@king song period

A Cover Song But Good One I think

The Depeche Mode song is of course the orignal and very good. I think Marilyn Manson does a good job covering it though the only huge difference I can really hear is the vocals. The Depehce Mode vocals aren't the growling ones of Marilyn Manson but versions of the song rock. Just for different reasons if you like Marilyn Manson and don't want to buy all of Lest We Forget: The Very Best Of Marilyn Manson buy this.

Born Brian Warner, Manson was raised in Canton, Ohio. At the age...
