Customer Reviews

Completly disregard the iTunes "review"

ijustlovegoodmusic,

The review that's been attached to this release is for an entirely different recording. Offered here, as far as I can tell, are the original RCA soundtrack recordings of Franz Waxman's score for "Peyton Place" and "Sayonara". They were, of course, on two seperate LPs. From what I can tell, they have undergone no remastering for this release, which means that sonically they are hardly up to today's standards. A digital remastering of both would have yielded a much better release.

For a collector of film music, these two scores are vital. They represent one of Hollywood's most sought after and vital composers, whose work and life ended at far too young an age. In his day, it was not unusual for other Hollywood composers to slip in to Waxman's recording sessions, for they knew they would hear something special and unique.

All things considered, these two recordings are certainly worth owning. However, charging $19.95 for what amounts to a single CD length recording of something recorded over 50 years ago (no royalty payments here) is absurd.
