Absolutely wonderful

I remember finding this album in a record store in Harvard Square when it was first released, and was absolutely blown away by the energy, the rhythmic complexity, the mix of rock, jazz and African music.

As inspired by Rhassan Roland Kirk as it is by other influences, Osibisa's music remains unforgettable, nearly 50 years after it debuted in recording with this album.

It, along with Wcyaya, remains one of my favorites. Black Magic Night also captures the feel of a live performance, although the iTunes album really should just eliminate the gaps between the tracks on that one.

Listen to this, and rediscover what live, masterful percussion and musicianship really sounds like.


Just a note to add that the cover art was by Roger Dean, Dean illustrated several Yes album covers, as well.
