Saxophone + Computer = Coolness
Eric Honour makes the avant garde accessible to the non-academic type in this album. Each song pushes our common perceptions of music, but also gives the intellectually curious listner a "hook" that makes the compositions something that can be enjoyed and not simply analyzed and studied. Sugar Baby and apparitions are the top songs for that reason, but I personally prefer Exterminate All The Brutes. This tune also showcases Dr. Honour's saxophone playing. The new fans should note that this music isn't improvised. Dr. Honour isn't just tooting a bunch of random notes and pressing record. Each song here is a composition, each note is well thought-out, and wicked hard to play.
