Digital? I don't think so!

I was very excited to see this available until I read the other review. I listened to a few previews and then being a "Ten Commandments Junkie" decided to download it anyway. Where this came from I don't know but it is certainly not digitally remastered unless the worst possible equipment was used! BUT there are lots of pieces not on the soundtrack and some actually don't sound too bad. Anyone wanting to hear the full score with lots of extended pieces and probably what are a few outtakes will want this, even though the quality is pretty poor. Hopefully someday someone will re-record the full score and we will be able to hear it in all it's glory. Til then this is a poor substitute, but it will have to do.

Might not be digital remaster but...

This is the most complete piece of the Ten Commandments I've ever heard.
If you really know the score, you know that this is the original score. They even tried to complete missing sections from the movie it self.. Just wish that Nafratiri's barge track was really from the start, missing few minutes.
I love this thx for the effort and now that we have this maybe it will be re mastered one day soon.

Got to agree

I have to agree with the other posters. Although this is a magnificent score and probably one of Elmer Bernstein's best, the recording quality is all over the place. Some selections are in decent stereo but others sound like mono and others sound like mud, with high frequencies missing and the result sounding like mud. I don't know where these tracks came from but they definitely do not sound like anyone did anything to clean them up or to ensure a consistant listening experience. Five stars for the music; two stars for the sound.

If Elmer Bernstein had realized his childhood hopes, he might have been a successful concert pianist from the '40s through the '60s. Instead, thanks to his ability as a composer (manifested at an early age), and the timely intervention of World War II, he has for more than four decades been a major force in popular and film music, and a major influence on American popular culture. Born in New York City, Bernstein as a boy showed a consuming interest in music, especially on the piano. He was a natural...
