Album Review

Blending the mechanical with the visceral, Within the Ruins create a terrifying juggernaut of an album on their fourth effort, Phenomena. Executing their relentless deathcore with almost robotic precision, the band create a sound that feels like an unstoppable, uncaring machine whose only goal is to grind the listener into a fine paste. Helping to paint this picture is Phenomena's heavily processed production, giving every element of Within the Ruins' sound a sense of sterile perfection, as if the band were performing surgery on their songs rather than playing them. While this might normally leave an album feeling lifeless, the band's impressive musicianship and driving songwriting provide the album with just enough humanity to keep listeners engaged long enough to experience the album's stark brutality.

Customer Reviews

Disappointed

After listening to the album a few times now, unfortunately I have to say it's really quite boring and somewhat repetitive. Furthermore, for some reason, the album really seems to be lacking a certain level of energy that was present in previous efforts. There's maybe one really good song and that's it. The new Ataxia song is even mediocre at best. Very disappointed in this album.

Good Cd

I heard it 2 times since it's release.Very solid Cd.I'm not a big fan of the effects they use.Seems to me that they used to much for this album, but that's just knit picking. If you ever bought any of Within the Ruins cd do yourself a favor and buy this cd.You won't regret it.

Amazing!

This band is one of the most underrated, hard working bands in the scene. They tour non stop and are %100 all for their fans. This album is incredible! A MUST BUY!
