Infinite Beauty

I am not a pianist, therefore my vocabulary is limited in describing this CD. I love Beethoven. I've memorized the 5 Piano Concertos (Perahia's), I've listened to his symphonies countless times, the cello sonatas, and the Violin Concerto. I've never gotten a good feel for the piano sonatas, though. The interpretations I heard seemed too harsh. I know Beethoven had his Heroic Moments, I know he used aggressive stylings in his music. But I couldn't get my head around the sonatas. Until I purchased this. Mr. Perahia seems to be playing the music, loving the piece, not just playing what he thinks its supposed to sound like. There is flow to the music, natural flow to his playing. I listened to this 3 times today, I am hooked. I love the sonatas, the sound of the piano. My favorite composer played by who appears to have become my favorite pianist. What a wonderful musical moment in my life.
