Customer Reviews

pipils are the original decendents of the maya tribes of El Salvador, these guys are playing and singing songs in nahuat, the language of our ancestor, I feel this is a great find, the recording are not the best quality but the historical significant is great.

acoustic windows 2 the past

like the last person said, this album has great historical significance. This music has traces of European instruments, and the Chant for the Cofradias is Catholic which suggests the amalgam of Spanish and the Natives but for the most part the tracks that are more percussive give glimpses to what pre-Colombian American music sounded like. Great for all Salvadorans out there and for any Ethnomusicologists, Anthropologists, and of course lovers of World Music
