EDITORS’ NOTES

Molly Burch’s full-length debut is a wistful collection of '60s pop throwbacks. Burch's jazz training can be heard in her clever phrasing—the Austin songwriter pouts and pleads her way through the coyly understated 10-song set. The performance can inspire goosebumps when Burch goes big, as on the full-throated choruses of torch songs like “Downhearted” and “I Love You Still.”

Great voice!

Saw her open for Sallie Ford and was mesmerized. Such a great voice, got the album and am not dissappointed.

Good vibes 💯

._. You don't need to know

This is just the album to play when you need that: "I'm totally not on this earth anymore!" mood.Love every song, and the nostalgia she expresses in her voice is purely psychedelic.

About Molly Burch

Molly Burch is an indie pop singer with a smoky voice and an affection for the vocal era, girl groups, and Brill Building pop. Raised in Los Angeles by show business parents (her father a writer/producer, her mother a casting director), she grew up on a diet of classic film musicals and vocal legends like Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, and started singing as a preteen. Burch went on to study jazz vocal performance at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. After graduating, she relocated to Austin, Texas with a goal to write her own music and have a go at a music career. There, she reconnected with guitarist Dailey Toliver, whom she had met in college. They recorded most of her full-length debut at Dan Duszynski's studio in Dripping Springs, Texas in a single day, with minimal overdubs the following day. Captured Tracks released the album of reverb-washed love songs, titled Please Be Mine, the week of Valentine's Day 2017. ~ Marcy Donelson
