This is very cool music !!

A couple of years ago I stumbled on to her first album, “Memories Are Made of This”. I was shocked at how much I liked it. I still love it. When folks started to tell me that she had another album out I went to her web site and listened to the demo tracks. Had to buy it and am thrilled that I did. It’s different from the first one. Same great, clear voice and happy presence. Same high production values and brilliant accompaniment . It just has a freshness to it. The arrangements of the songs, some of which I already knew, are the best I’ve heard. Faithful but all her own. So my recommendation is - don’t hesitate. Buy it. It’s really very cool music.

Deana Martin - Volare

What's NOT to love about this new CD from Deana Martin? I loved her first one...but this one just blows me away. It must be difficult to launch a career and prove yourself in the shadow of a famous parent, let alone a legend such as Dean Martin. Deana has done it! She proves she has the talent, skill and vocal prowess to deliver a song like it was meant for her to sing it. I love what she does here with a few songs her Dad popularized...then you hear her treatment on "Love Me Tender", "Just The Way You Are" or "I've Got You Under My Skin" and you realize what a great talent Deana is in her own right. I love the opening tune: "Please Don't Talk About Me". Deana rocks! If the Rat Pack were to be recast, I'd vote that Deana be the new ring leader. Dean was the King...but Deana Martin is the Queen Of Cool! Awesome release!!

Very cool indeed!

I stumbled on to her first record out of curiousity and was pleasantly surprised. Now, with this new album, I am actually blown away! I actually think her version of "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone" is better than Dino's! Possibly a blasphemous statement, but hey...check it out. Deana also pays a nice tribute to some of the the other great swingin' crooners, like: Nat King Cole (L.O.V.E.), Louis Prima (Old black Magic), Bobby Darin (Mack the Knife)...and somebody named Dean Martin (Volare, Return To Me, etc.). A very cool and swingin' trip down memory lane...but so fresh and phat sounding! Nice job.
