Album Review

For his 2007 effort Unique, Danish producer/songwriter DJ Encore has brought vocalist Johanna Stedt on board to replace his previous muse Engelina who only contributes backing vocals and co-writing credits to two songs here. This means precious over-power on the mic, which actually works quite well since Encore's widescreen pop-trance constructions are quite dramatic and big on their own. Stedt's sweet and soft vocals help even the scales and even influence Encore to break out the acoustic guitar for a couple pleasant numbers that show that clubbers also need mid-afternoon songs. Still his greatest strength are the synth and drum machine club tracks, like leadoff single "You Can Walk on Water" which is uplifting, motivational, and shamelessly positive. There's nothing cynical here and the writing is solid enough that there's little to be cynical about, save "Falling"'s chuckle-worthy "You're falling for me/As I'm falling for you/We could run away and escape/Without a clue." Encore's near perfect production and keen sense of melody is much more important than the everyday lyrics, and seeing as how he just keeps getting better at what he does, and with a better partner, Unique gives Cascada, D.H.T. and the like a good reason to aim a little higher.

this cd came as an extremely pleasant surprise. When I heard the news that DJ Encore was going to release a second album I couldn't wait...and this cd does not disappoint. The key tracks are: "You Can Walk On Water", "Sweeter Than Beauty", "Falling", "Follow In Your Footsteps, " "Nobody Wants To Try", and "Catch Me." If you love melodic dance/trance music along the lines of Lasgo, Ian Van Dahl, DJ Sammy, or Dyce, then this one is for you.

Amazing come back album!

Wow! I was so nervious that this album was going to be bad since there is a new vocalist, but this is great! DJ Encore has kept his traditional sound, but has also matured it. This album contains some amazing songs like "You Can Walk On Water" "Falling" "Follow In Your Footsteps" "Catch Me" and "Point Of No Return". I would really recommend this album to anyone who likes DJ Encore. There are some tracks that aren't really up to par with his normal work, but overall it's great. Welcome back Encore! You've done it again!

This can't even be the same people

"Intuition" was probably the greatest vocal-trance album of all time. This is one of the blandest, vapid, excuse of a follow-up to ever exist. None of the songs are memorable, the lyrics are terrible, there is no energy; Johanna is whispering all the songs. Go out and buy Intution, it will change your life. but stay away from this sophmore slump.
