A Decent Second Step

While a great of “djent” music sounds the same these days, there are a few acts that still manage to stand out and provide their own unique atmosphere. Fortunately, Mestis is one of those projects. There’s nothing on this album that Javier hasn’t already done with Animals As Leaders, honestly, but as far as a second release goes, this album straightforward and pleasant to listen to. It’s not a metal album and it’s not easy listening, either. Mestis continues to meld both in an amalgamation that intrigues while it soothes.

Good, but seriously?...

I like this...well, at least half of it? Don't b******t people - this doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the first ep. I don't get how one could actually back track on production value on their next effort. Not all the material is anywhere up to par as the first ep either. To make this short - if this ALBUM sounded anywhere close to the production and material of the ep then...it'd be kool. Just save the cash. And listen to AAL and the first Mestis ep.

Second EP, Album??

Well he has a unique voice and its very obvious. His writing it clear and goes against the trends of 8 string guitar for most part. Some of his choices for guitar tones are beautiful others are a bit harsh. Overall it's a good release for what it is.
