iTunes Review

William Shatner knows how to deliver a line—and musicians from all genres have had a blast collaborating with him. He's sometimes camp, sometimes enlightened, sometimes silly, and sometimes serious. Cleopatra Records kingpin Billy Sherwood, best known to the mainstream world as a member of ‘90s Yes, invited his prog-rock friends to join him in making this latest Shatner album, where the mysteries of life, science, and its fiction are given a very different soundtrack than on previous Shatner albums. Jazz guitarist Al Di Meola, Yes’ Rick Wakeman, Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band’s Zoot Horn Rollo, The Doors’ Robby Krieger, Hawkwind’s Nik Turner, Steve Vai, and Edgar Winter are among those to join Sherwood in creating new age and prog sounds behind Shatner’s authoritative delivery. Even country singer Vince Gill joins in on the fun with “Imagine Things.” This album is more for progressive rock fans and folks who weren’t excited by Shatner’s previous "pop" moves.

Great, Creative Album

Shatner has done it again! This guy just keeps going!
Great prog album

I was initially skeptical, but after listening to Alive, I was transfixed. Shatner's is that rare 60's star whose music evolves and remains relevant. Shatner's work is as timeless as anything by Gershwin, Cole Porter, Dylan, or Lennon-McCartneyMy choice for best album of the year. Appreciate this national treasure while we still have him.

William Shatner will go down in history for always being fearless and ever growing in talent. Constantly challenging today's norms. I have to say I wasn't sure what to expect but I am very glad I got this album.

Genre: Sci-Fi & Fantasy

The crew of the Starship Enterprise no longer soars through the galaxy under the command of Captain James T. Kirk, but they continue to inhabit the airwaves on a number of pop and rock recordings. The Vulcan Mr. Spock, aka Leonard Nimoy, Lieutenant Uhura, aka Nichelle Nichols, and several others from the series' next generation of actors have released albums, and Kirk -- actually his alter ego, William Shatner -- is still commander of the pack. His spoken word recordings of "Lucy in the Sky with...
