Portrait Of Evil Review

If Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, and Queensryche were all locked into a dark room and forced to record an album before their release, I have a hard time believing they wouldn't spew out this Dark Mirror album. Every track is raw, but well produced and the mix is great.
The album kicks off by letting every listener know that they are not here to mess around; "At the Edge of Reality" begins the album with a purely metal riff that gets the head banging immediately, but don't worry, there's plenty more where that came from! Just as you begin to recover from the rediculously heavy guitar riff, Alonso Donoso's vocals come at you like a freight train. Whoa, that rules!
Portrait Of Evil has everything you could want in a metal album. It's got great guitar work, Dustin "Blitz" Creagan absolutely shreds throughout the entire album, making me want to quit guitar altogether. He also has some really cream-jeans double lead work that is impressive for a single guitarist. It's got great vocals... I'll just let that speak for itself. It's also got a great foundation, Clint Blomker lays out the tasty rhythm much like any Megadeth album I've heard, and Marco Battaglia's thundering bass lines bring Dark Mirror's sound together.
And all of this bad-a** metal comes from three guys from Iowa and a vocalist from Chile! Sorry Slipknot, this is the baddest band from Iowa!
With no weak spot on the album, this is a must buy for any metal head that wants some new stuff to bang his head to. Highlight of the album has to be "Karma", the second to last track, but every other song is a close second. Portrait Of Evil is 5 out of 5 stars!!!
