it was just a matter of time

just a matter of time for this band to really do what they have the potential to do. "The Same Old Blood Rush With a New Touch" was a very good album with many catchy songs, but it definitely had its weak spots, which all debut albums do. But this album has no flaws, it really shows who Cute Is What We Aim For is. Practice Makes Perfect - My most played on iTunes. Amazing song 10/10 Doctor - The first song they had up. Good song, not the best though 8.5/10 Navigate Me - Very, very interesting lyrics, but so catchy 9.5/10 Loser - Also a very catchy song, I couldn't get it out of my head before 9.5/10 Do What You Do - Very good beginning and good lyrics 9/10 Hollywood - This is a very different song for them, but still very good 8.5/10 Safe Ride - I loved this song since it was put up on their purevolume 9/10 The Lock Down Denial - A harder song for a change. A good song to have on the album 8.5/10 Marriage To Millions - Love the beginning on guitar. Very good lyrics too 9/10 Miss Sobriety - Good song with a good title. Catchy chorus 9/10 Time - I fell in love with this song when I listened to it for the first time. Great lyrics 10/10 This album is a must buy. If this band keeps this kind of work up they will be huge. They're amazing.

It's Only A Matter Of Time Before You Fall In Love

Cute Is What We Aim For is perhaps more mature as you will see being the main point in many other reviews. They are using special effects in their songs (almost every one actually) and Shaant's lyrics are obviously more mature as you will see in the album's first single "Practice Makes Perfect." They may be more mature, but you'll still see shades of the old Cute in songs such as "Doctor" and "Navigate Me," but once you've finished this album, you will definitely know that Cute Is What We Aim For is a new band with change for the better. Song by song review: 1. Practice Makes Perfect: Great choice for a single, and great song to start out album because it signals their maturity. 2. Doctor: Catchy song, people will downgrade it on their reviews but only because it was the first song off of the album to be released. This is unfair. 3. Navigate Me: It'll be your first favorite song off of the album just because it's a mixture of their old and new stuff and is even more catchy than Doctor. 4. Loser: Extremely catchy, sounds more like The Same Old Blood Rush. 5. Do What You Do: This is the song that starts off the maturity that lasts until the end. Another potential first favorite song off of the album because of the lyrics and melody 6. Hollywood: Would appear to be a protest song, but is extremely well written and the use of trumpets, even though I hate ska, is actually necessary 7. Safe Ride: The song you'll listen to with your lover in the car 100% of the time. 8. The Lock Down Denial: Hardest song on the album, but not so hard that you're like WHOA! It's catchy once again and will have you listening over and over 9. Marriage To Millions: Another song signifying their maturity through their lyrics, yet is one of the lighter songs on the album in terms of music sense. 10. Miss Sobriety: Extremely catchy, will take some listening over and over, but this'll be the song you forget about until you listen to it more and then you'll love it to death 11. Time: The slowest song on the album, but my personal favorite. It's not necessarily a love song persay, but it's extremely catchy and the lyrics will have you singing on those car rides again. 12. Through To You: Extremely catchy it surprises me that this wasn't on their actual album because I think it definitely has "hit" potential The rest are bonus tracks and to sum it up...This is the first PHENOMENAL album of Summer 2008 and is worth whatever you spend on it and more

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

The emo-pop outfit Cute Is What We Aim For emerged from Buffalo, NY, in January 2005. Although originally formed as a quintet, the band ultimately stripped down to four members, with vocalist Shaant Hacikyan, guitarist/pianist Jeff Czum, drummer Tom Falcone, and bassist/guitarist Fred Cimato comprising the lineup. Wasting little time, the bandmates recorded a handful demos that landed them on Fueled by Ramen's roster before the year's end. Cute Is What We Aim For then hooked up with producer Matt...
