Album Review

A hodgepodge of tracks recorded between 1984 and 1986, some written by others, some in collaboration. Mostly dispensable, it is saved from a "Poor" rating by the rambling "Brownsville Girl," co-written with playwright Sam Shepard.

Album only?!

I'm writing this review simply to disapprove of the choice to make Brownsville girl an album only track. I don't know who makes these choices, but it's pretty disappointing to see the only song from an album that's really worth listening to being album only. I think it's dirty and eliminates the point of ITunes, which is to individual songs that weren't released as singles without having to buy the album. 2 stars and not one for the album being cheep.

Bobby's finest of the 80's - Don't miss

This is easily Bobby's finest album of the decade. Rarely has an artist come back from a let down on their previous album and rebounded like this. Firing on all cylinders, Bobby produces a near masterpiece of sonic texture, genius instrumentation, and an un cluttered lyrical feast for the ears. True Audiophiles and Musicians alike have long included this on their top albums of the eighties and among Dylans's lost gems, right up there with the basement tapes. If you do nothing else this year, do yourself the favor and add this GLORIOUS and IMPECCABLE masterpiece to your'll thank me later!

Bob Dylan's influence on popular music is incalculable. As a songwriter, he pioneered several different schools of pop songwriting, from confessional singer/songwriter to winding, hallucinatory, stream-of-consciousness narratives. As a vocalist, he broke down the notion that a singer must have a conventionally good voice in order to perform, thereby redefining the vocalist's role in popular music. As a musician, he sparked several genres of pop music, including electrified folk-rock and country-rock....
