Brilliant British comedy wasted on a Los Angeles crowd
You don't have to be British to get his jokes, but you do have to be smart. This dude's set feasts on clever wordplay and turns nerdy puns into actual artful comedy. And his wordplay IS clever. Genius even.
His deadpan one-liners STORM in the UK, but are woefully missed by this LA audience. I guess it makes sense. Although I laughed like hell, if I had to pick three words to describe his style, I'm not sure "funny" would make the list. That doesn't make this a bad review. Not by a long shot. It means he's unique. Just try and keep up with him on your first listen. Really quick-witted, brainy stuff, yet it somehow feels poetic.
Oh, and he does a freestyle rap at the end. SHOW. STOPPER.
Couldn't even make it past the third track. The audience was barely laughing and when they did laugh, you could tell they weren't sure why.
