Definitive Canadian rock

The Headstones may not be one of Canada's most recognized bands but amongst the post Gen-X musical sounds of today they have had a lasting impact on the Canadian music scene. With their sound falling somewhere between the funny and often dark sounds of bands like Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and the driving guitars of Maryland contemporaries like jam band Clutch they are not easily put into a musical category.

For fans of unique Canadian rock music however, the Headstones symbolize that dark but fun era in the nineties where cut off jean shorts with nine hole Doc Martins were the style and it was okay to be both funny and nihilistic. Cynical, reflective and hopeful all at the same time the Headstones are a band worth listening to for fans of 90's Rock.

The Western-tinged, hard-edged rock & roll of Headstones began in the late '80s in Ontario, Canada, and consists of vocalist Hugh Dillon, guitarist Trent Carr, bassist Tim White, and drummer Dale Harrison. The band signed to MCA in 1993 and soon after released Picture of Health, followed by Teeth & Tissue.
