Album Review

Add Primal Fear to that elite group of "true" metal warriors. Upon listening to opener "Chainbreaker," which sounded very Judas Priest inspired, a bit of investigating took place. Vocalist Ralf Scheepers used to speak the metal language for Gamma Ray and almost found himself sitting on the throne of Judas Priest, until that position was "ripped" from him. So here he is, tearing up the speedways with Primal Fear, who specializes in creating the kind of headbanging, dual guitar, and metal mayhem listeners have come to expect from Germany. The sound is huge but not complex, just thick and massively produced. Kai Hansen (Gamma Ray alumnus) lends a helping guitar hand to the metal melee, his solos sounding top-notch as always. The only complaint would have to be the semi-juvenile lyrics that take away from certain songs. Highlights from the album include the aforementioned "Dollars" (not even cornball lyrics can ruin this metal classic), "Tears of Rage," "Promised Land," "Thunderdome," and the Deep Purple cover "Speedking." So put on your jean jacket and black leather pants and get ready to pound some beers.

Awsome Metal Music

I have not heard or met anyone that knows who Primal Fear is but i would have to say if you are a true metal head then buy this cd. Its one of my favorite cds on iTunes and i could listen to Primal Fear all day. They never get old ever if you have listened to them over and over it just gets better ever time you listen to them. I own 3 of their cds and this one is my second favorite. But still if you like power/ heavy metal then this is a cd you would want to add to your collection!!

This Band Is Awesome

By now, there should be no praise due to this band, but everyone still seems to turn away. This is a GREAT band, with an amazing vocalist. The only thing I didn't like was the horrible pun that iTunes put in the review ("ripped" away is refering to Tim "Ripper" Owens, who snuck in and took the Priest frontman position instead of Ralf Scheepers, this band's lead singer).

Primal is power

I am so glad that Ralf and Primal Fear continued on with the music we love. People go from band to band and get nowhere and acomplish nothing new or exiciting, but this and the other Primal Fear cd's you have it all. This band has what it takes to make people feel good and enjoy music they require.

The European power metal combo Primal Fear has been kicking around the metal underground for years, refining their brand of melodic riffing and soaring vocals. Their sound, highly influenced by Gamma Ray (who has traded members with this band) and Judas Priest, was introduced on their 1998 eponymous debut. The following year found them gathering a press following when Jaws of Death garnered positive reviews from most respectable metal critics. On top of that, their European popularity flourished...
