iTunes Review

A compilation of Fugazi’s first two EPs, 13 Songs is a perfect example of uncompromising, post-hardcore punk. Ian MacKaye takes the energy of his former band, Minor Threat, and slows it down to a manageable tempo with singer/guitarist Guy Picciotto providing an impassioned vocal counterpoint. But it's still raw power that they rely on—their playing is tight and brutal. And their determination to maintain full control of their career is reflected in these precise, hair-raising, spine-tingling performances.

A Life-Changing Band

Fugazi was the first punk band I saw live and I still love this album 15 years later. (Still have it on cassette, held together by masking tape!) Their DIY attitude and "no sell-out" ethos really impressed me. This album best captures their raw approach to making music that I loved that day at The Channel in Boston. I wonder though... Would Ian approve of selling the album for $11.99?

The Real Deal

There are certain times in your life that you know you are bearing witness to greatness. The 1st time I heard this Album at a basement party in high school, everything changed. After that night music was never the same for me. If someone admitts to not liking this album, they are not to be trusted.

Alternative defined

C'mon! You must give this 5 stars or you are not listening. I bought these EPs in the late 80's in high school and they still are great. They haven't aged a bit. In fact, they've made more sense to me as i've lived my life. These 2 EPs were put together to form this cd, 13 Songs. A must have for anyone! The music is aggressive and makes you want to do something more than just listen. Get it?

If history is kind to Fugazi, their records won't be overshadowed by their reputation and methods of operation. Instead of being known for their community activism, five-dollar shows, ten-dollar CDs, and resistance to mainstream outlets, they will instead be known for their intelligent songwriting and undeniably proficient musicianship, which drew from their roots in Washington, D.C. hardcore, as well as post-punk and dub reggae. Songs like "Waiting Room" and "Suggestion," as well as albums such...
