iTunes Review

There’s always been a slight wink in Clutch’s pummeling, parallel-universe take on Southern rock: Here, singer Neil Fallon introduces the band by shouting out their astrological signs (“X-Ray Visions”) and later admits that despite his Catholic upbringing, he’s a sucker for witches (“Sucker for the Witch”). Sonically, the band’s approach remains brutal but lithe, using the deadpan old-Western humor of Fallon’s storytelling to lighten the propulsive sludge of the rhythm section. Always a world unto their own, Clutch soldiers on.

Killer Clutch

What can you say? Other than Clutch hit it out of the park!

Evolution at its finest hour

If you know Clutch, you know that each album is quite a bit different than the one before. Which is why Clutch has evolved to be one of the finest rock acts out there. Psychic Warfare doesn’t stray to far from Earth Rocker, but enough to let you know that Clutch isn’t just out there to play repeat on their past success. From beginning to end this album is a treat. There are no filler songs here just to get 12 songs on an album. Each song can stand on its own, and Clutch could have put them in any order on this album and it still would flow nice. Although the last song ‘Son of Virginia’ is a fitting end to another great album. Just be sure to listen to the very end so you can finish what ‘The Affidavit’ started.

Solid.
