Album Review

The 2012 debut EP from the five-member vocal ensemble Pentatonix, PTX, Vol. 1 features a cappella versions of contemporary pop hits. Included are the band's takes on Nicki Minaj's "Starships," Jazmine Sullivan's "Love You Long Time," Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know," and others. Also featured here are the two original songs "The Baddest Girl" and "Show You How to Love." PTX, Vol. 1 is a great introduction to the Arlington, Texas-based group, which previously won season three of NBC's The Sing-Off vocal competition in 2011., Rovi

There are no words...

This album is incredible. No a cappella group has ever come close to the talent and full sound of Pentatonix. And, listening to this amazingly varied compilation of tracks is second only to hearing them live. The CD is not overproduced in the slightest (this is really how they sound in-person) and perfectly showcases the full range of talent exhibited by all five of the members. The fact that they are talented enough to not only cover other artists in new and different ways but also give us a couple of completely original compositions--written by the members, not a producer--shows that this group is here to stay for quite some time. Thank you Kirstie, Kevin, Scott, Mitch, and Avi for raising the bar for vocal prowess. Looking forward to Volume 2 and a tour.

The most satisfying $5.99 you will ever spend

With sky-high energy, this seven-song EP does. not. let. up.

These five singers are so talented they transcend the a cappella niche. I don't care if you've never heard of or liked a cappella before, take a listen to one or two samples (We Are Young and Starships, for example) and tell me you wouldn't play the bejeezus out of this at any party you ever hosted.

Buy this album. Blast it in your car and at all other times. You're welcome.

LOVE THIS BAND!!!

Listening for the second time and LOVING it!! Just Buy it, Fool!
