A Man Whose Convictions Ring True...

Noel Paul Stookey has proven that you don't have to be a right-wing conservative to express your Christian faith with clear convictions. Songs that I would recommend are #3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, & 11. For humor, I would recommend tracks #2, 4, 5, 6, & 12.

childhood favorite...

One of my all-time favorite records...I'm so delighted to find it here. Stookey is charming and winsome, telling stories (tracks 2, 12), encouraging audience participation (6), and, of course, singing and playing. This is a live solo concert recording, just a man and his guitar. Tracks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 12 are on the lighthearted/goofy side. After many, many repeat listenings I usually skip 5 (I've never been terribly fond of the old lady). I love the arrangement of the 23rd Psalm (1) and the Irish Blessing (11).

At Last!

I've been searching for this album for 30 years! I had the 8-track tape of this album and tried to find a tape or CD ever since then. Noel Paul is Genuine.

Stookey balanced his involvement with the trio with myriad activities as a solo singer/songwriter, record producer, and political and spiritual activist, and he has remained active with such endeavors following the death of PP&M's Mary Travers in September 2009. Stookey's earliest inspiration came from the rock & roll of the '50s, and he played electric guitar with several teenage rock bands. His witty personality...
