Livin' Out Loud

You have to check out this new CD from Clay McClinton-yes, it is Delbert's son. Livin' Out Loud is an appropo title for a couple of reasons-not because it is raucous, in your face music but rather celebrates lifes ups and slices it down into these exquisite tunes. And additionally this CD has Clay stepping it up to the next level with each work he produces. While Out of the Blue and Son of a Gun (Clay's first two discs) are great examples of melding different styles of music in fine McClinton form (like pops himself), Livin' Our Loud starts rocking right off with Whole Lotta Work as Clay writes about life on the road lamenting "Pack it up, tear it down just to do it all again, it's a whole lotta work just to have a little fun". It seems here as if Clay has matured and found confidence not only in his writing skills but vocal delivery to boot. Clay wrote or co-wrote all the tunes on this new cd except the last cut, Down to Mexico, which was written by Delbert some time ago but never released-which is good for Clay because he nails it. A rolling number that has a decidely tasty Spanish flavor replete with flamenco guitar florishes and hand claps provided by Malcolm Bruce and Delbert guest "whispers". A fine album that screams we all need a little Livin' Out Loud-which may mean live life to the fullest whilst you can.

Clay McClinton

Special thanx to Clay for his musical evolution. There are definite and distinguishable influences from both Nashville and Austin where Clay has married sounds that definitely make his father, Delbert, very proud. Keep tabs on this fine musician as he evolves further into ya'llternative music. Cudos! BBQ Brad
