Beautiful Voice

Even if you don't understand a word of Italian, Bello e impossible, will still strike you as a great song with great rhythm and a striking melody. Gianna has a remarkable voice and stands out as a world class singer.

An 80's classic

Profumo is the third album Gianna Nannini made with legendary producer Conny Plank (Kraftwerk, Eurythmics, Brian Eno), and it cemented her superstar status across much of Europe in the 80's. It starts off with her highly infectious megahit "Bello e impossibile" and is immediately followed by "Profumo", another major hit, a very earthy and sensual song where she pines for the scent of an absent lover. Two of my favorites are "Avventuriera", a joyously upbeat, energetic song about the freedom and adventure of hitting the road and seeing faraway lands, and the hauntingly enigmatic "Terra straniera". This is very much an album of the 80's, and is a masterpiece of the collaboration between Nannini and Plank. While it's use of electronics can sometimes make it seem a bit dated to modern ears, Nannini's voice is masterful and is ultimately what makes this album impossible to resist.
