iTunes Review

Gotan is tango spelled sideways. On their 2001 debut, this Paris-based Argentine-French-Swiss trio smoothly subverts the seductive syncopated sound of Buenos Aires with suave electronic beats and brooding atmospheres. Their blend of disco-length originals and head-turning covers by artists like tango icon Astor Piazzolla ("Vuelvo al Sur"), Frank Zappa ("Chunga's Revenge"), and Gato Barbieri ("Last Tango in Paris") invite us into a world where the bandoneón concertina and violin meet DJ culture on the dance floor, with sublime results.

Customer Reviews

Fabulous album! I always play Gotan Project during my dinner parties and the music is always a hit. It brings out the sexy in a lot of people!

This album contains some of the most romantic music, combining modern and traditional tango music Gotan Project makes it sound incredible. My favorite songs from this album are Queremos Paz, Epoca, Santa Maria (del Buen Ayre), Una Musica Brutal, & Vuelvo Al Sur.

Tango Perfection

The album that spawned a genre of tango-electronic hybrids. This is still the best of breed. 10 years later, still sounds as fresh as the moment it appeared. The perfect fusion of classic tango sounds and melodies with electronics. It's a challenge to fuse traditional music with electronic music, and this is the rare gem of a success. Highest recommendation.

Despite all the success, the duo...
