Album Review

An ambitious re-creation of the life of the late, great singer Héctor Lavoe is given in this superlative outlook on the bittersweet life of a lost talent, complete with brief dialogue segments (based on the musical, with Domingo Quiñones in a poignant characterization). All the famed Lavoe favorites are here, and although there are elements of fictionalization in the story, this should not deter the ever-growing admirers of a legendary singer like Héctor Lavoe. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr., Rovi
