Wow...

I've slept on Faith since Faithfully. Her first album was an amazing (and well-loved) debut, her second, however, was way too sappy for me. Faithfully was well-rounded with a lot of great songs, but was also terribly inconsistent. Her next two albums I skipped outright as my taste in music changed. This new album, however, is fantastic! Great production, great songwriting... The energy and power here is tangible and invigorating, and (to share the love) it's an album that was clearly backed with great people. Most of all (and this is why I'm writing) Ms. Evans' vocal aptitude has just skyrocketed since I heard her last. I used to listen to her first album over and over and over in my senior year of high school, back in '95 and '96, and this is just off the chain, utterly demolishing her performances past. She sounds so free, so uninhibited, so self-assured... her gift absolutely shines here. Pure soul singing, with exquisite power, range, control, and nuance. This woman has endured and cultivated a great talent, and deserves to enjoy many more successes. Thank you Faith! I can't wait to hear what's next!
