iTunes Review

What’s led Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O to release these lo-fi bedroom tunes from 2006-07 in 2014? Perhaps it’s the success of “The Moon Song,” her Oscar-nominated track from the Spike Jonze film Her, or maybe with enough time and distance she feels more confident letting the world hear her coo so nakedly. Tape hiss or a white noise generator appears to accompany her on the double-tracked “Comes the Night.” These sketches of intimacy (15 songs in 25 minutes) have a pleasurably unfinished feel. You’re forgiven if you find yourself wishing “NYC Baby” and “Other Side” went on longer, but it’s the entire point of this project. Karen O says she made it at age 27, when she was feeling like she’d never find true love, just an endless string of hard crushes.

Remember, these are all demos*

When Karen O said she would be putting out this album I was stoked. Upon hearing more about it she said something along the lines of these being demos she recorded and never released (hence their length). I read this a long time ago (and if you go online or on the Yeah Yeah Yeah's website, she explains further into what these songs mean to her). This album is sure to be not only amazing but also raw, give it another shot and be open minded when listening to not only the single but the entire album.

Why are just about all the songs under 2 minutes!??? That’s basically just a ton of interludes or skits! The price needs to drop from $7.99 to $2.99

Great songs I bet, though...

Karen O. has great music and insane talent being in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. But the songs on here barely even go more than 3 minutes. A bit short for music? I could careless though because it’s phenomenal! Just wish it was longer!

Best known as the frontwoman for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen O began branching out from the group's incendiary rock soon after its debut album, Fever to Tell, was released in 2003. She loaned her vocals to "Hello Tomorrow," a 2005 collaboration with producer Squeak E. Clean that provided the soundtrack to a Nike shoe commercial directed by Spike Jonze. In 2008, she debuted the side project Native Korean Rock, which featured a softer, folkier sound that recalled her pre-Yeah Yeah Yeahs music. That...
