Christopher Drake enters the darkness
This is questionably Christopher Drakes darkest animated film score to date. Christopher drake sampled a bit of darkness in his Batman: Gotham Knight episodes but he's more known for his loud trumpets and screeching snares to build an almost gladiator/heroic sound. This album is Christopher Drake leaving that aside and entering the batcave for the first time. Batman: Under the red hood is in my opinion the greatest Batman animated film thus far. Christopher Drakes score completely carries you through the epic chases, battles, confrontations and emotion beautifully. His score tag teams with the amazing world of batman and creates a 75 minute, action/mystery rollercaoster ride. If nothing else, this album is a new mountain that Drake has climbed. It's different from everything else he's done and is definitely his STAND OUT album so far. The lead composer for the DC Universe's Animated Films hasn't failed to impress wit hthis one.
For the Fan, a Must.
Some listeners might be put off by the synthesized tone of most of the album but dedicated fans of Batman will be able to sit through it all as it is the best album to come from a Batman animated film. Drake's subtle underscore and his brash motifs make the album very somber and perfectly suited for the film.
High energy Score
Can't wait to see the film! The score is quite high energy - I do wish that the Orchestra was real and not sampled though.
