iTunes Review

Hiatus over, the Chicago pop-punk band is back and providing a needed outlet for fans who want the maximum-volume shout-alongs, wicked wordplay, and stadium- and soul-filling guitar attacks that only Fall Out Boy can bring. And there’s an emotional stake involved, as bassist Pete Wentz shared on his blog. “Save Rock and Roll is a personal statement for the band…because at the end of the day, rock and roll saved us.” “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light ‘Em Up)” sets the table; now get ready to dig in.

It doesnt sound anything like old Fall Out Boy but that doesnt matter because this new Fall Out Boy is equally awesome!! So excited for Save Rock and Roll!!

After a long four-year hiatus, Fall Out Boy has risen from the ashes like a phoenix and is prepared to take the music world back by storm with "Save Rock and Roll," their long-anticipated fifth album. It's clear that FOB is trying to venture into a new yet slightly familiar direction with their sound, and as a longtime FOB fan, the result couldn't be more of a satisfying thrill. Their comeback single "My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up)" is an unabashed powerhouse anthem that effortlessly blends modern punk and classic '80s rock for a truly unforgettable track. "The Phoenix," meanwhile, gleefully brings the band back to their earlier roots with Patrick nailing as many of his signature high pitches for the chorus as possible. With a diverse lineup of featured artists that includes Foxes, Big Sean, Courtney Love, and even Elton John, this ambitious album is already setting itself up to be one 2013's best. Only a short time will tell whether "Save Rock and Roll" will actually live up to its full potential, but seeing as how the first two singles are so strong in quality, I have nothing but high hopes at this point. This is what we've all been waiting for, FOB fans. Let's thank the group once we're done rocking out.

Chill the hate guys

For those people who chastise fob for a horrible album title remember, this is fall out boy their album titles are usually ironic or have a deeper meaning. The album contains music from many genres from punk to pop to electronic to acoustic to rap. It takes us away from the soulless music of today. They wrote this album in silence to stay out of the press's influence. They write it to please themselves. Some songs have the 80's pop influence that Pat loves or the electronic influence from pete. Lay off and look at the album like it's meant to be, an album that represents music as a whole that reminds us that there still is soul in the world not just drunken party anthems. The title song is beautiful. Elton did a great job and it deserves to be recognised. The album as a whole is gold and I would like to thank the band for blessing us with great music and reminding us that the industry still has hope. Thank you fob!

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Fall Out Boy rose to the forefront of emo pop in the mid-2000s, selling more than four million albums thanks to the band's tabloid-grabbing bassist, able-voiced frontman, and handful of Top 40 hits. The group's four members first came together in Wilmette, a bedroom community 14 miles north of Chicago, around 2001. Vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist/lyricist Pete Wentz, drummer Andrew Hurley, and guitarist Joe Trohman had all taken part in various bands connected to Chicago's underground hardcore...
