About Tanja Tetzlaff & Gunilla Sussmann

Cellist Tanja Tetzlaff studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg with Bernhard Gmelin, and worked with Heinrich Schiff at the Salzburg Mozarteum. In 1992, Tetzlaff won the International Music Competition in Vienna, and in 1994, she won the ARD International Music Competition. She has regularly performed with major orchestras, including the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Berliner Symphoniker, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Camerata Salzburg, the Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre de Paris, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Royal Northern Sinfonia, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Tetzlaff is also active in chamber music, and has appeared with Tabea Zimmermann, Antje Weithaas, Lars Vogt, Florian Donderer, Alexander Lonquich, Martin Fröst, and Leif Ove Andsnes, as well as performing as a member of the Tetzlaff Quartett with violinists Christian Tetzlaff and Elisabeth Kufferath, and violist Hanna Weinmeister. Tetzlaff's recordings have been issued on EMI, Ondine, NEOS, and Avi. ~ Blair Sanderson
