EDITORS’ NOTES

The San Francisco–based trio Happy Fangs recorded their debut album at Sacramento’s The Dock Studio, where Ty Segall and Wild Flag also recorded. There must be magic there. The studio clearly inspires bands to rock out to their best abilities, since Capricorn is an unrelenting good time. At nine songs and with all guitar riffs and catchy choruses sharpened, it’s reminiscent of the late ‘70s, when bands like Cheap Trick, Kiss, and The Runaways made records with an ear toward good times, potential radio play, and audience participation. Songs such as “Raw Nights,” the title track, and “Lone Wolves” are anthems for a new generation.
