Notas editoriales de iTunes

Back in the middle and late '90s, independent hip-hop was bigger than ever—and New York's Rawkus Records was arguably the best and most influential label in the mix. An incubation tank for soon-to-be crossover stars like Mos Def and Talib Kweli (then known as Black Star)—as well as Company Flow, Hi-Tek, and even a young Eminem—the label put out countless classic 12-inches, albums, and beloved compilations like Soundbombing and Lyricist Lounge. After the millennium, Rawkus was absorbed by MCA and then Geffen, which tried to relaunch the brand. But Rawkus was really never the same. This compilation culls from the label's glory days, including many of its biggest hits. (Mos Def is featured on more than half of them.) Though many crucial tracks are nowhere to be found, this is a good place to start if you're a newer fan of the Mighty Mos and searching out his early work. Other highlights come from the late, great Big L ("Flamboyant"), Styles & Pharoahe Monch ("My Life"), and Common ("1999").

Thank you

Thank you God, because after the D4L single and Santana's album dropped I thought all hope was lost for Hip-Hop. Nothing but women and ice and the fact that they have it is all those kinds of rappers talk about. Those dudes are just rappers. The dudes featured on this album are Hip-Hop artists. There's actually meaning in the versus they spit. There's still some controversy that can still be raised by their words. It's good to be reminded in a time like this when it seems like all artists are talking about the same thing, that there's still some brothers out there that can be more diverse and original

why aren't any of the SOUNDBOMBING(1,2,&3) Compilations on i tunes that RAWKUS put together?: SOUNDBOMBING 2 is the CLASSIC rawkus record of all time!!

Great Tracks

I own most of these albums that these songs appear on. THis is an excellent buy for underground and mainstream rap fans alike. The Sun God Is the TIGHTEST song and i am glad they put it in this collection. And it also features an extended version of THE BLAST, kweli;s best track ever.
