Vincent Rocks!!

It's funny how quickly certain music can trigger memories in your head. As a kid in the 70's, Don McLean's Vincent was one of my favorite songs. I would crank up my cigar-box sized plastic am radio whenever the radio station played it.
Life was great then. My dad was young, & full of life. Flash forward 30 years later, in 1999, my then 13 year old son , Cory is learning to play the guitar. After perfecting 'Stairway to Heaven', he said...."Dad...
ever heard of Cher Atkins?..I learned this new song 'Vincent' & began to play it.
I was impressed. Long spider-like fingers gives this kid an advantage with guitars that I never had. The kid was hooked. Flash forward another 14 years to today, my father has passed, my son is 27, a great guitar master & even though he lives 3000 miles away, every time I listen to Chet's. Vincent, it shoots me back to this eager teenager that day, & again back to the 1972 when I myself was a kid.
"Thank you Chet.... Thank you Don... For Vincent, and for all the fond memories that seems like just yesterday each time I play it. Eugene F

During the '50s and '60s, he helped create the Nashville sound, a style of country music that owed nearly as much to pop as it did to honky tonks. And as a guitarist, he was without parallel. Atkins' style grew out of his admiration for Merle Travis, expanding Travis' signature...
