EDITORS’ NOTES

Already securing co-signs from Jeremih and DJ Khaled, this debut mixtape from the Jamaica-via-London MC is a fierce and welcome addition to the UK rap landscape. A brazen refusal to ascribe to one genre ensures this is a thrilling and completely refreshing joyride: The dancehall infused “16 Shots” packs ferocious punch, “Envy Us” is an infectious Afro-beat inspired exchange with rising star Abra Cadabra, while "Narcos” and the drill-charged “Lik Down” showcase a cocksure lyricism to rival any rap contemporary.

Hot Hot Hot!!!!

Milk Shakezz,

This sexy Jamaican British female emcee blends hip hop (Narcos), reggae (16 Shots), electronica (Forever) and hints of r&b in (Gangsta) in these tracks just to mention and unlike other artists, her combos work without question!!!

It's hard for me to actually enjoy an entire album....given stated, this an album to purchase if you're a fan of versatile sounds. This album is a perfect plethora of a mix of different genres blended; therefor, I can let the album play through to enjoy multiple genres.....

Not gonna compare her style to no other, because that wouldn't be fair to credit away, despite the fact that certain tracks are a reminder to others, but that's producers who supply them.

Long and short, get this album!!!!!!!!!!!!

About Stefflon Don

Dancehall/rap artist Stephanie Allen (aka Stefflon Don) switches between dancehall patois, grime verses, and honeyed vocals with ease and confidence. Originally born in Birmingham to Jamaican parents, Allen moved to the Netherlands when she was five years old. Her family remained in Holland for nine years before moving to Clapton, East London when she was 14. As Allen grew older she knew she wanted to pursue music, taking on the initial strategy of covering other artists' work and spinning it in new directions; the first two efforts that gained traction came in 2015, when Allen covered Wretch 32's "Six Words" and Section Boyz's "Lock Arff." As Allen became more popular, she collaborated with a number of prominent artists including Lethal Bizzle, Sneakbo, Jeremih, and Wretch 32 on his 2016 album Growing Over Life. 2016 also saw the release of her debut mixtape, Real Ting, which featured Jeremih returning the favor as a guest artist. As 2016 drew to a close, Stefflon Don was highlighted on the BBC's Sound of 2017 list. The following year, Allen signed to Universal Music, which created a new subsidiary -- 54 London -- and made her the first signee. ~ Liam Martin
