X factor

Billy and Steve made the soundtrack to my teen years. So many great tunes on here.

Cruzin Music!

I probably wore out about 4 cassettes of this album! Remember cruisin up and down PCH in the summer with this blasting! Great memories!

Soundtrack of my youth in one album

I was in a band touring the U.S. the year this album came out and it stayed in my Walkman for the entire summer of 1984. When I hear these songs it reminds me of being in the bus traveling down the highway, or hanging out at a hotel pool somewhere in the USA. If you're new to Billy Idol or Steve Stevens, take it from someone that was there - buy this entire album and let it play like your "Best of Idol", because it is. He put out some good songs before and after Rebel Yell, but here not only do you get great songwriting, but Idol/Stevens manage to go beyond singles and beyond genre which creates a sum as good as or greater than the parts. On top of that the performances are superb, as are the dynamics and arrangements. Examples of that are Rebel Yell, Eyes Without a Face, and Flesh For Fantasy. Neither song sounds alike yet they all complement each other and are all hits too. Enjoy this. It's as good as it gets.

Mixing his bad-boy good looks with an appealing blend of pop hooks, punk attitude, and a dance beats, Idol quickly rocketed to stardom, before hard living derailed his career and almost proved fatal. Born William Michael Albert Broad on November 30, 1955, in Middlesex, England, the youngster relocated with his family for a brief spell...
