This wasn't half as kitchy as I had feared. DG may be on to something and the throwback to the old skool DG LP look is a gas. I was half fearing that Richter would make this into some sort of strange German electo club music, but what he did was actually a stroke of genius. He took Vivaldi, a pre-curser to minamalism amd made it relivant in that style. Props to Daniel Hope for taking a risk and going along with the ride. This caught me off guard, it was a pleasant suprise. With hope, DG will continue this sort of experimentation in the series. There are three or four already in the pipeline, but I hope that more will come. Get this and expand your horizons. -Bz
I have been waiting for this release and listened for the first time in the middle of Central Park. It's a beautiful take on Vivaldi's classic work. I recently discovered Max Richter and have fallen in love with his music. The man's a genius.
Outstanding piece of art
Richter takes Vivaldi's work and actually composes a brand new one, with a rich and brilliant play by Daniel Hope. Not just a reworking, but a truly masterpiece with some hints of minimalism. Wonderful work
