had no idea this was coming out! if u liked/loved yellow tape..this doesnt dissapoint! just another dope chapter in the Evidence book.

Creative Instrumental

Evidence put out Red tapes just a few short months after he released his first solo LP album, The Weatherman LP. Now, the Weatherman LP is without a doubt a 5 star album, with no filler lines, and solid rapping flow by Evidence and his many talented guests. Red Tape Instrumentals is a far less ground-breaking effort, however, Red Tape has a very dabbling creativity; all tracks are seemingly short. On the other hand, the tracks are not short lived; each track has a great baseline, and act as great loops. Now, Evidence is a firm promoter of DJ mix and mashing, which makes one question the purpose of this instrumental album. Each one of these tracks would make for a great loop to use on any talented rappers album. You'd have to have the right voice, as these tracks typically have a medium to high pitched key/base guitar sound to them. Overall, a very hot instrumental album/kit to work with. The only grip to have with it is that a few of the tracks, such as "Speed" and "Amsterdam" both have been used on previous Dilated Peoples albums. Then again, I'd rather have those instrumental tracks to those songs instead of having a shorter Red Tape Instrumental experience. Well done, Evidence. Very well done.

Evidence using good samples and the beats are good overall. But, what is up with his drums?! His drums are so weak and almost ruin the beats in a lot of cases. Listen to The Vacation- the beat is dope but the drums are pathetically weak. Listen to that weak snare. I mean come on Evidence, you know better than that!

One-third of the influential L.A. hip-hop group Dilated Peoples, Evidence was born Michael Perretta in Los Angeles, relocating from Santa Monica to Venice Beach with his mother when he was six, after his parents' divorce. Though Evidence was heavily into skating and graffiti while growing up, it wasn't until he was 12, when he moved next door to QDIII (Quincy Jones' son) and was able to see firsthand how beats were made and what it took to be a top-quality producer, that he began to be more interested...
