EDITORS’ NOTES

This full-length debut is a colorful blast of attitude-packed R&B pop, spiced up with flirty rhymes (“Them Girls Be Like”), Mariah Carey samples (the ultra-catchy "Like Mariah”), and guests including Kid Ink, Tyga, and Meghan Trainor. It’s the tunes when the distinct singers lean into lush vocal harmonies—“Reflection,” "This Is How We Roll,” “We Know"—where the album really shines.

About Fifth Harmony

Fifth Harmony are an all-female contemporary R&B vocal group who formed in 2012 while competing on the second season of Fox's The X Factor. Originally, Fifth Harmony featured vocalists Normani Kordei Hamilton, Lauren Jauregui, Allyson Brooke Hernandez, Dinah Jane Hansen, and Camila Cabello. The members of the band entered The X Factor competition individually as solo artists and were then placed together by judge Simon Cowell to compete in the "groups" category. Ultimately, Fifth Harmony finished in third place behind Carly Rose Sonenclar and first-place winner Tate Stevens. After The X Factor, Fifth Harmony signed to Epic Records in the U.S. and Cowell's Syco Records in Britain. In 2015, they released their debut full-length studio album, Reflection, which included the singles "Bo$$," "Sledgehammer," and "Worth It." The album debuted at number five on the U.S. Billboard 200, eventually reaching gold certification status. Also in 2015, they embarked on their first headlining tour.

They following year, Fifth Harmony returned with their sophomore full-length album, 7/27. Named after the date that the group was officially formed during their time on The X Factor, the album featured production from a handful of top-level hitmakers, including DallasK, Stargate, Kygo, and others. Buoyed by the singles "The Life" and "Work from Home," featuring Ty Dolla $ign, 7/27 debuted at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Several months later, Cabello issued her own single, "Bad Things," a duet with rapper Machine Gun Kelly. The track performed well, eventually reaching the Top Ten of the Billboard singles chart in December 2016. On the heels of that success, Cabello announced she was leaving the group to pursue a solo career.

In the summer of 2017, the quartet returned with "Down" featuring rapper Gucci Mane. The track was included on their third studio album, and their first without Cabello, 2017's Fifth Harmony. Also included on the album was the Skrillex- and Poo Bear-produced single "Angel," as well as productions from Ammo, DallasK, the Monsters & Strangerz, and others. ~ Matt Collar
