Album Review

Mixing a post-grunge sound, complete with a slight metal edge, and a radio-ready studio sheen, Red play songs that, although they're often filled with confusion, despair, and anger, are also ultimately positive and redemptive, which is where the band's Christian base comes into the blend. This EP offers remixes of six tracks from 2013's Release the Panic, with orchestral strings added at key points, plus a new track, "Run and Escape," all of which expands the group's sound without muting it too much.

Much Better!!

I'm sooo glad they made this. The mix is way better, and you get the true RED sound that was lacking a bit on the original album. Also, Run and Escape is rad!!

Contrast is King

I'll admit that this album took a bit of warming up to, but it is definitely an overall great album. Release the Panic focuses on powerful vocals more than guitar riffs, and the strings in Recalibrated complement them surprisingly well. Hold Me Now and So Far Away are still the best songs in the album, but Red's incredible talent is proven in the stark contrast between Release the Panic and As You Go. The album enters in mighty wrath and exits in angelic grace. Release the Panic: Recalibrated returns to the standard that Red set with End of Silence.

Great as usual

Red really know how to implement great string arrangements in their music. This album is a great example. Keep making great music red. And more importantly keep praising God.

They soon grew tired of pop songs, however, and began crafting their own hard-edged rock tunes that often confronted personal issues from their lives. According to lead singer Mike Barnes, the name Red was chosen as a symbol "for the blood of Christ and what it represents: passion, pain, but ultimately, redemption." Comprised of Barnes, Jasen Rauch (guitar), Hayden...
