Editors’ Notes

Kenny Vasoli’s debut full-length as Vacationer, 2012’s Gone, appealed to a wide spectrum of indie pop fans, wrapped as it was in a clattering and fuzzy chillwave vibe. For Relief, he’s going for more warmth and soul, less chill and fuzz. Influences from bands like Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., classic ‘60s soul, ‘70s easy rock radio, and even hints of Afropop waft through Relief. The opening track, “Stay,” is undulant, hip-swiveling, and inviting, and it segues beautifully into “Paradise Waiting,” a tune with glowing electric piano notes and Vasoli’s evocative delivery reminiscent of numerous early-‘70s summertime radio hits. The gentle loops of fluttering guitar notes and twinkling keyboards of “Glimpse” and “Shining” are clearly rooted in the present, with a modern sheen glinting off their breezy “easy rock” core. The subdued “The Wild Life” is about as bubbly as things get, and the tune’s programmed handclaps, warm percussion, and carefree chorus might just get your foot tapping a little more energetically while you bask in a sunset, sipping a tropical fruit drink in a real or imagined equatorial time zone. As Vasoli sings, “Unwind/Don’t worry your mind.”

Chillest Album of All Time

The Patron Saint of All that is Chill has done it again. This album is fantastic. A bit more complex musically than Gone. His voice is so smooth. Dig.

Can't wait till these songs come out. Vacationer has some really good songs on this album. If you haven't heard some of their old songs check out"good as new" and "everyone knows".

I loved "Gone". I am so excited for this! They always have a great summery vibe that goes great with warm weather. AHHHHHH :)
