best babyland record yet?

it's very possible that this could be the best bayland record yet. where past records focused souly on drums and another on vocals etc... "the finger" brings together all the elements that make Babyland unique rather than focusing on just one aspect.

Another Fine Babyland Album

This album is immediately recognizable as 'classic' Babyland music, and yet it also showcases the steady evolution of their songwriting that transcends their 15+year career. The sonic textures at times are more muted than past efforts but the insightful angst remains as fresh and resonant as it always has been. In a world of increasingly stale music, Babyland remains a maverick independent group; worthy of praise and support. Buy the album and help support some genuine independent artists.

it may indeed, be the best one yet!

Not only does "the finger" feature both Gehry and Past Lives, two of the most anthemic songs the band has ever wrote (in a more just world, they would be in movies and well, if there was a channel that say, had videos... the music video would be popular there), there are actually some serious moments of progression, including the creeping menace of "Guard Dogs", that has a serious Big Black style swagger, and the downright touching LMYA. Highly recommended and a GREAT starting point, this band is again at the top of their game.
