Editors’ Notes

First cut to last, Worth Dying For’s full-length debut Love Riot is strong stuff. Amidst an overabundance of standard-issue worship bands, this Modesto, CA outfit cuts a bold figure thanks to its urgent mix of metal, industrial and screamo sounds. WDF’s lyrics are as fervent as their musical attack, embracing roof-shaking sermons (“Destroy”), enraptured praise numbers (“Glorify”) and urgent rallying-cries (the title tune). Co-lead singers Christy Johnson and Sean Loche spur each other on to ever more passionate heights, reaching a peak on the fevered altar-call “Stir It Up” and the scream-wracked “You’re Alive.” WDF is equally capable of propulsive David Crowder Band-esque numbers like “Never Look Back” as well. On “Higher” and “Power of Your Love,” Johnson makes forays into Evanescence/Flyleaf territory, delivering luminous vocals infused with spiritual yearning. Overall, Love Riot succeeds in capturing the aggressive, crowd-rousing energy that WDF has made its trademark through years of youth-ministry work.

HIS story with their sound ...LOVE RIOT

Picking a few songs is a mistake with this CD. It's like reading a couple chapters of a great novel or hearing a partial sermon of a great preacher. Total impact of the ministry and power is in their creativity, words, and passion. Nothing like it in Christian music for years.

The best album in the WHOLE WORLD!

I can't believe that THE Henry Seeley from Planetshakers sings on this album! Worth Dying For is so uniquely anointed... the power of God moves through every lyric. This band is playing such a vital role in changing the face of modern day worship. They are frontline warriors taking this generation deeper into the throne room!

An offspring of the youth services at Calvary Temple Worship Center in Modesto, CA, modern worship quintet Worth Dying For got their start playing anthemic, rock-infused praise tunes at weekly gatherings at the Stadium, a meeting place for young people. After signing to worship giant Integrity Music in 2007, they went into the studio with tobyMac collaborator and producer Dave Wyatt to record their self-titled debut — a disc with shades of fellow Christian rockers Paramore, Fireflight, and...
