What can you say about Too $hort that hasn't already been said? The man basically invented pimp-rap, drawing from his Oakland upbringing and creating his own sub-genre that has since been co-opted by everyone from Snoop Dogg to Jay-Z to Suga Free. He went from making custom raps for locals to selling tapes out of his trunk to major label deals and world tours. He has also spread the wealth, discovering other Bay Area acts like Spice1 and the Pack, and he continues to do outreach work in the community. Respect the Pimpin’ is (at least) his 19th solo release, and sounds exactly like what you would expect/hope for in a new Too $hort record. His beats are a perfect fusion of languid guitars, syrupy keyboards, deep low-end, and simple but dope drum hits. Twenty-five years after his debut, $hort Dog is still going strong. Check out "That's Not Your B*tch," "Y'all Ready," and "B*tches Need Love Too."
I miss the old Too Short and Ant Banks trunk rattlin' music. Just Another Day with QD3 is still one of my favs. Too Short lived down the street back then. Bring back Ant Banks and do it old school. Not bad though.
So What r u Sayin Todd?
Respect It... He's Been Pimpin, Since Been Pimpin, Since Been Pimpin! its one of the oldest hustle's ever and I respect it.... just as long as the women are with it... meaning getting a girl on drugs or beating her up half to death is false pimpin! Check her, but dont wreck her!! A real pimp just needs his vocab to knock a Prostitute, U know Sell her a dream or 2 and she will be all over u... with sugar on top! lol
I like this album just like all other Short Records and Snoop is a good add on to the tight beats by Jazzy Fizzle... RIP Pimp C Just got to say that (The Mac Of All Mac's) Mac Minister is on this 2! The Hook on #5 was not that good and thats the truth but i will still support the Mac! Keep ya Head Up In The slammer Pimp!! and RIP Mac Dre...... moment of silence...... Richie Rich! U already know... this album is a nine out of ten... I think He needs to do an album with Daz, Scarface, Devin The Dude, E-40 and Suga Free..... Pimp On! 2 Sheezie!
only one too short!!!! this EP does NOT disappoint.
