iTunes Review

With their band project Egypt Central in the rear-view mirror, Joey Walser and Blake Allison have forged a new sound as Devour the Day. It's a more sonically omnivorous project unafraid to merge earnest anthems and electronic touches into their propulsive brand of heavy rock. On "Oath," lightning-crunch riffage underpins Allison's confessional lyrics, while "Reckless" is the rare active rock song to combine fiery power chords and acoustic guitars against a waltzing beat, complete with triumphant "ooohhh"s to lift a lighter and sing along to. The single "Good Man" is a highlight. It's a dramatic track down to its plucked violins, which nod to Linkin Park at their most throat-shredding and Rage Against the Machine at their most bottom-heavy.

Great buy

Great songs. Great quality. What more is there to say?

I miss Egypt Central!

Let me start this by saying I am a HUGE Egypt Central fan, have all of their albums even b-sides and saw them live 3 times. That being said, I really appreciate them trying to move on without John Falls, but its just not the same. I miss his singing, his lyrics, his raw emotion. While Blake gives it a good effort, he just does not have the vocal chops of Falls, hence why he never sang lead on EC...he's just not that good of a vocalist. So while this album is solid, I find myself not even listening to it anymore at all, while I still keep all EC albums in my regular rotation. If you are new to them and want these guys in their best form IMO, just buy the Egypt Central albums and save yourself the time.

Finally!!

About time a band steps up and makes all around great music!
